With a strong NW wind blowing during Friday (27th) and quite a few birds being seen on the sea, I made a visit after work at 4pm for a couple of hours. The wind had eased a little but I saw a good range of species in my time there mainly flying West. Birds noted included 2 Curlew, 14 Arctic Skua, 1 Great Skua, 2 Little Gull, 74 Kittiwake, 3 Sabine's Gull (juveniles) seen well, 60 Black headed Gull, 3 Arctic Tern, 1 Sandwich Tern, 3 Balearic Shearwater, 65 Gannet and 1 Little Egret. A return the next morning in a quite calm NW'ly was very quiet with 3 Wigeon, 1 Teal, 2 Common Scoter, 5 Turnstone, 88 Black headed Gull, 15 Common Gull, 1 Great Black backed Gull, 1 Red throated Diver, 7 Gannet, c30 Cormorant, 2 Little Egret, 5 Sand Martin, 14 Swallow, 23 House Sparrow, 1 Grey Wagtail and 16 Meadow Pipit in off the sea.
