Despite the wind being a strong SSW wind this morning which is not ideal on the north coast, I thought I would take a look in case any birds were using the coastline to shelter from. I arrived at 7am and stayed until 10:20. Birds noted included 51 Brent Geese, 1 Shelduck, 2 Teal, 6 Common Scoter, 2 Red breasted Merganser west, 22 Golden Plover low west over the sea, 2 Turnstone, 1 Sanderling, 2 large Auk sp west, 76 Black headed Gull, 1 Mediterranean Gull, 8 Common Gull, 25 Herring Gull, 11 Great Black backed Gull, 4 Great crested Grebe, 2 Red throated Diver, 1 Gannet, 20 Cormorant and 2 Rock Pipit. The highlight and a new bird for the area was a Great White Egret which flew west offshore at 10:13am. Also seen were 31 Carrion Crow on the foreshore, 1 Magpie, 4 Starling and 1 Pied Wagtail.
