A Lesser Redpoll (123) was sound recorded early on the morning of the 30th June. I made an early visit for a couple of hours this morning before work where I spent some time walking along the seawall. Birds noted in calm sunny conditions included 1 Pheasant, 16 Woodpigeon, 3 Collared Dove, 4 Swift with 1 Hobby in hot pursuit, 4 Oystercatcher, 49 Black headed Gull, 21 Mediterranean Gull, 16 Herring Gull, 1 Great Black backed Gull, 2 Sandwich Tern, 1 Great crested Grebe, 5 Cormorant, 5 Little Egret, 1 Green Woodpecker, 1 Jay, 5 Magpie, c50 Sand Martin, 1 Chiffchaff, 1 Cetti's Warbler, 2 Blackcap, 1 Lesser Whitethroat, 5 Whitethroat, 2 Grey Wagtail (124) flew south inland, 1 Yellow Wagtail and c20 Linnet. As I stood on the top of the cliff, I thought I heard a Greenshank call but didn't hear it call again. Thankfully the recorder was nearby and captured the Greenshank (125) flying through the area. Nocmig recording the past few nights has produced Ringed Plover, Sandwich Tern, Grey Heron and Curlew.
