In calm but cloudy conditions, I had a walk around the patch from 07:00 and saw 2 Grey Partridge, 3 Canada Geese, 4 Shelduck, 2 Mallard, 2 Stock Dove, 19 Woodpigeon, 3 Collared Dove, 2 Curlew, 7 Turnstone, 3 Black headed Gull, 22 Mediterranean Gull east, 3 Great Black backed Gull, 6 Sandwich Tern, 4 Great crested Grebe, 2 Fulmar, 2 Gannet, 10 Cormorant, 1 Sparrowhawk, 2 Jay, 2 Magpie, 1 Skylark, c100 Sand Martin, c50 Swallow west in small flocks, 1 House Martin, 3 Chiffchaff, 1 Cetti's Warbler, 1 Long tailed Tit, 3 Blackcap, 3 Lesser Whitethroat, 7 Common Whitethroat, 2 Song Thrush and 2 Meadow Pipit. At 07:38, I picked out the call of a Tree Pipit (108) and soon got on to the bird as it flew west. This is another new bird for the patch for me. Also seen were 1 Chaffinch, 16 Linnet and 1 Corn Bunting. Back to work tomorrow so unfortunately, back to weekend birding and maybe the odd cycle back along the seawall after work, and weather permitting, some 'Nocmig' recording at night.
The Turnstone, up at the top of my favourite waders list Marc, especially in breeding plumage.
