There was a very light northerly wind this morning so I started off with a quick seawatch and then a look at the bushes at Bishopstone. Birds noted from 05:30 included 2 Mute Swan drifting east offshore, quite a scarce bird here, 1 Teal, 2 Common Scoter, 10 Oystercatcher, 2 Ringed Pover, 3 Whimbrel,1 Curlew, 54 Black headed Gull, 5 Mediterranean Gull, c40 Herring Gull, 1 Great Black backed Gull, 35 Common Tern west, 107 Commic Tern west, 95 Sandwich Tern east and 9 Cormorant. There were 2 Little Egret, 1 Great spotted Woodpecker, 1 Green Woodpecker, 1 kestrel, 1 Peregrine, 2 Jay, 1 Reed Warbler, a scarce passage bird here, 7 Sand Martin, 13 Swallow, 2 Chiffchaff, 2 Blackcap, 3 Whitethroat, 1 Firecrest, 26 Starling, 25 House Sparrow, 2 Meadow Pipit, 1 Chaffinch, 6 Linnet and 1 Goldfinch. There were at Least 3 Wall brown butterflies noted.
