This morning started at 7am with a brief seawatch followed by a walk around Bishopstone looking for birds passing over. Birds noted included 15 Brent Geese, 1 Stock Dove, 35 Woodpigeon, 5 Collared Dove, 2 Turnstone, 199 Black headed Gull, 1 Mediterranean Gull, 2 Common Gull, 1 Great Black backed Gull, 1 Lesser Black backed Gull, 6 Sandwich Tern, 5 Great crested Grebe, 4 Gannet, 14 Cormorant, 1 Little Egret, 1 Sparrowhawk, 1 Marsh Harrier high west, 1 Great spotted Woodpecker, 1 Kestrel, 3 Peregrine, 3 Jackdaw, 1 Rook, 12 Skylark, 3 Swallow and 4 Chiffchaff. There were 8 Long tailed Tit, 1 Blackcap, 10 Goldcrest, 1 Firecrest, 324 Starling with many coming in off the sea, 4 Song Thrush, 1 Redwing, 12 Blackbird, 15 House Sparrow, 1 Grey Wagtail, 11 Meadow Pipit, 1 Rock Pipit, 161 Chaffinch west, 2 Brambling, 8 Linnet, 15 Lesser Redpoll, 17 Crossbill south, 5 Goldfinch and 7 Siskin. Another good look in the Glen failed to produce and sight or sound of a Yellow browed Warbler.
